More Information about Salsa de las Almas Olvidadas from composer Cody Bennett
Salsa de las Almas Olvidadas is inspired by the story of a women who goes to the underworld to find the soul of her husband who was killed in a great war. On her journey through the underworld, she encounters other souls represented by different themes. These melodies weave in and out of the textures of the music while the main theme, bass, and percussion parts dance on throughout the piece. The themes come together toward the end of the work in layers throughout the orchestra before coming back to the original theme in all parts in the end. Even though her husband has passed, she has found solace knowing his soul is at peace, and she has found the strength to continue dancing and living her life.
