The world of symphonic grandeur was featured during the Symphony's Conductor’s Choice concert. Maestro Pete Nowlen had handpicked two pieces with special meaning for him. First, the most famous symphony in the world, Beethoven's 5th Symphony, with its profound intensity that echoes the resilience and courage of the human spirit. And the concert opened with the lyrical beauty of the Hiawatha Overture and Ballet Suite by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor. Coleridge-Taylor's works were inspired by the famous epic poem The Song of Hiawatha by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, America's most famous poet. Attendees joined the symphony on Saturday, April 13 at the Cordova High Performing Arts Center and enjoyed a concert experience where our conductor’s handpicked selections led them through a musical voyage of discovery and beauty. This was a free concert. |
