On Saturday, December 3rd at 6pm the Symphony performed our free holiday concert at the Cordova High Performing Arts Center. The show opened with a medley of tunes from the How the Grinch Stole Christmas. And then followed the highlight of the evening--our brand new "Naughty v. Nice" show, a musical extravaganza that was a new and humorous twist on the classic Hansel and Gretel fairy tale, with melodies from Humperdinck's beloved opera. With a considerable array of video effects, the show featured the signing of our all-star Poperetta! cast:
Robin Fisher
Liisa Davila
Julie A. Miller
and
and The Countess Katya Smirnoff-Skyye, as "the Witch" (J. Conrad Frank)
The Symphony continued with a medley of Christmas Bells pieces, and then the Countess serenaded the audience with several holiday songs (accompanied by Symphony pianist Carlos McMillan Fuentes). The concert concluded with a beautiful symphony arrangement of the beloved O Holy Night, and then the audience was invited to sing-along as the Symphony played a medley of holiday songs by Leroy Anderson.
